Joyce Uptown Foodshelf is a very efficient organization and can purchase 250 pounds of food for $100.  Thus your generosity can make an impactful difference in our community.

Joyce Uptown Foodshelf is a people centered, no questions asked food shelf operating in the heart of Uptown since 1969. In an average month Joyce serves 1700 people from 450 households with over 40,000 lbs of food. Since the pandemic started, the food shelf was able to increase the number of clients they serve by  40%, nearly doubling the amount of food that goes out into our community. Not only did they expand their services, but they focused them as well. With specific programs for Latin American and West African immigrants, culturally specific food purchases, and community outreach and delivery programs, Joyce has responded to the needs of a changing demographic by leaning in, and creating a welcoming space for all.

Members of Uptown Rotary have been volunteering at the Uptown Foodshelf every Thursday evening for over 25 years.  These evening hours are another effort to serve the needs of all, as those who are working or have other constraints on their daytime hours can still get the food they need.
